Staff Selection Commission, also known as SSC, is an Indian organization to employ staff for various posts in the different ministries and departments of the Indian government and in their subordinate offices. The SSC conducted exams for Stenographer Grade C & D, and the result for the same has been announced. The candidates are henceforth qualified for the skill test. Candidates who have qualified would see their names in the official website of SSC. For the Grade C of the stenographer, 2602 students have been selected, while for Grade D, 24875 students have been selected for the interview.

Written exam

The written exam was conducted by the SSC on 14th of September, 2014. The candidates are requested to sharpen their skills and hone their brains towards the skill test. Along with the result, there would also be the cut off mark available for the candidate. From this, the candidate can come to know if they are on the right path or not. For the SC, the cut-off marks would be 114.50, for the ST it would be 104.75, for the OBC it would be 121.25, for the OH it would be 102, and for the UR it would be 130.75. The candidates can check against their name to know if they would be qualified for the interview. For the grade D, the cut off or SC is 81.50, ST is 70.25, OBC is 85.75, OH is 69, and UR is 102.

Skill test

The final hurdle for the candidates who have cleared the written exam is the skill test. The skill test completely tests the student’s ability towards the job. The candidates would be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi, which needs to be typed at the speed of 100 words per minute for the post of stenographer grade C and 80 words per minute for stenographer grade D. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. The transcription time in English is 40 minutes for Grade C, and 50 minutes for Grade D. For the transcription in Hindi, the time taken by grade C must be 55 minutes, and Grade D would be 65 minutes. If the medium is not mentioned in the application form, then the commission would take it as English.
