Typically employed by the state and local law enforcement agencies to take care of the law, police officers enforce and protect law and order. Police officers after joining work may also do their duty in jails, to guard inmates and testify them in court for cases concerning them. For the year 2014 – 2015, Gujarat Police requirement for PSI/ ASI and Constable 8450 posts, with the latest police vacancies of Sub Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspector, and Constable are open. The interested candidates can apply online from November 21st to December 13th, 2014. Gujarat Police Recruitment Board is a recruitment board for Constable, SI, ASI & police Bharti in the Gujarat state police department. The board invites applications from efficient, dedicated, passionate, strong, knowledgeable candidates to take up the position of PSI/ ASI and Constable 8450 vacancies. The post is open for both male and female entrants.

The total of about 8450 posts include unarmed police sub inspector or PSI posts of 500 in number, assistant police sub inspector or ASI posts of 800 unarmed in number, police constables; of which 5650 are unarmed entrants, and 1500 posts would be filled with armed candidates. For the PSI post, the entrant must be from 21 to 30 years of age as on December 13th, 2014. For the ASI post, the candidate must be 20 to 30 years of age as of 13th of December, and for police constable the age limit is 18 to 28 years as of the same date mentioned above.

The candidate must have been a graduate, or its equivalent from a recognized university for the ASI and PSI posts. For the police constables, the entrant must have passed Higher Secondary, that is 12th class or its Equivalent from a recognized education board. As far as the fees is concerned, the unreserved category, that is general and OBC caste have to pay Rs. 100, while the reserved candidates, like the SC, ST, SEBC & Ex-Servicemen, need not pay any amount as fee. The candidates would be selected based on physical standards, physical efficiency test, objective & written test and interview.
