Final result for Combined Geo-Scientists and Geological Examination (UPSC)
The final results of Combined Geo-Scientists and Geological Examination for 2014 have been announced by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Number of Appointments:
315 candidates will be appointed to Group ‘A’ positions of Geophysicists, Chemists and Geologists in Geographical Survey of India. Some of these will be appointed as Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) in Central Ground Water Board.
The written examination for these posts was conducted during the month of May 2014. Interviews for these positions were conducted during the month of November 2014.
Of the 150 Geologists selected for the posts, 48 are of General Category (one post for Physically Handicapped) and 70 posts are for OBC candidates. One post in this category is reserved for Physically Handicapped. 22 Posts in this category are for SC and 10 posts are for SC candidates.
05 posts are in Central Ground Water Board. Of the 05 posts of Junior Hydrogeologists 03 are for categories from General category and one each is for OBC and SC candidates.
General Information for the Candidates:
UPSC has opened a facilitation centre and in case the candidates whose name has been notified in the list wish to seek any clarification, they can visit the centre in person on any working day. The visit can be made from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours.

Education Qualification for the post of Junior Hydrogeologists:
Those who desire to apply for the position of Junior Hydrogeologists should essentially have Masters Degree in Geology/ Hydrogeology/Applied Geology/Marine Geology/Earth Sciences and Resource Management.
Those who apply for the position of Junior Hydrogeologists need to qualify the written examination and the interview.
Education Qualification for the post of Geo Scientist:
Those who seek to be employed for the position of Geo Scientists need to have Masters Degree in Geological Science/ Geology/Geo-Exploration.
Physical Standard for the positions advertised by UPSC:
Those who seek to be employed for any of the above positions must be physically fit.
Selection Procedure for the Positions:
Those who seek to be employed for any of the notified posts have to qualify 4 papers, namely Geology Paper –I, II and III. In addition, they need to qualify a paper in General English.
